IMPACT STUDY CONSULTANT – LEBANON YOUTH PROGRAMS

Introduction to GAME
GAME is a non-profit organization that works to create inclusive and youth-led street sports communities with a focus on social change. Through training local youth as Playmakers, GAME creates safe spaces for sports, empowerment, and civic engagement in underserved communities.

GAME Lebanon began operations in 2007 as GAME’s first international program. Since then, GAME Lebanon has rolled out multiple community-focused projects aimed at strengthening youth leadership and social cohesion through sports.

Background and context

GAME Lebanon has implemented youth-led street sports and civic engagement programs that bring together refugee and host communities. Centered on GAME’s Playmaker model, these initiatives emphasize youth participation, social cohesion, and the development of leadership and life skills.

This consultancy will conduct a cross-project impact study in Lebanon, reviewing and synthesizing data from four complementary initiatives completed or ongoing from 2020 onwards. The study will assess the contribution of these interventions to youth empowerment and social cohesion, drawing on quantitative survey data, monitoring reports, and—where possible—qualitative insights from Playmakers (youth leaders) and Zone Kids (younger participants).

Purpose of the Study

The study aims to assess the outcomes and impact of GAME’s work in Lebanon with a focus on two thematic areas:

  1. Youth Empowerment
  • Strengthened youth leadership, confidence, and interpersonal skills
  • Increased civic engagement, advocacy, and entrepreneurship capacities
  • Greater youth initiative in activating and leading activities in public spaces
  • Broader, more inclusive opportunities for youth participation

  1. Social Cohesion
  • Improved trust and relationships between refugee and host community youth
  • Inclusive public spaces used for shared interaction and activities
  • Increased girl participation and evolving attitudes toward gender inclusion
  • Enhanced social inclusion of minorities through play, sport, and youth-led events

Scope of Work

The consultant will be expected to:

  1. Review existing materials: Final project reports, survey data, Most Significant Change quotes, training materials, workshop reports, and other relevant project documentation.
  2. Design and implement follow-up qualitative data collection:
  • Conduct semi-structured interviews and/or focus group discussions with Playmakers, Zone Kids, and/or community stakeholders (e.g., parents, local leaders).
  1. Analyze findings in relation to the study’s three thematic areas
  2. Produce a clear and engaging impact report with:
  • Key findings and outcomes
  • Human-centered insights and quotes
  • Recommendations for future programming and advocacy

Limitations and Considerations

  • Qualitative data is brief and limited in depth

  • Consultant may need to work with limited contact info for follow-up interviews

Ethical Considerations

The consultant is expected to uphold ethical research standards, including ensuring informed consent, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions. Since the study involves youth participants, the consultant should ensure appropriate safeguarding and consent protocols are followed in line with GAME’s policies.
